Travelling around Australia in a motorhome. A story of our travels starting from NSW then through Queensland, across to Northern Territory and Western Australia, then to South Australia, Victoria and finally across the seas to Tasmania. We have enjoyed everywhere we have visited and look forward to setting off again in our motorhome.

Barcaldine 14 July 2014

We arrived in Barcaldine in time for a grey nomads traffic jam – caravans and RVs everywhere! Went off for lunch and when we returned they were all gone! Barcaldine is famous for the Tree of Knowledge and the Australian Workers Heritage Centre, as well as having 6 heritage pubs in one short street! The Australian Workers Heritage Centre displays the history of the trade union movement as well as the formation of the Australian Labor Party and reminded us of the struggles of our parents and grandparents. The Tree of Knowledge was the spot where the shearers met when they were on strike and had been poisoned a few years ago by some deadbeat loser, however it has now been turned into a striking memorial to our forebears.
