Travelling around Australia in a motorhome. A story of our travels starting from NSW then through Queensland, across to Northern Territory and Western Australia, then to South Australia, Victoria and finally across the seas to Tasmania. We have enjoyed everywhere we have visited and look forward to setting off again in our motorhome.

Apple Tree Creek 14 6 2013

Did a spot of shopping then headed up to Childers. For us it will always be the backpacker's fire town, when a deranged man set fire to a backpacker's hostel in the main street, killing a number of people. While not feeling as macabre as Snowtown, it is sobering to remember the senseless loss of life and the devastating effect it had on the town. Drove up the road to Apple Tree Creek and camped next to an oval in the bush. For the first time on this trip we had company in the form of other motorhomes and caravans – a reminder that a lot of people are heading north for the sun. Someone light a fire and we sat around and compared war stories and looked up at the stars – a pleasant evening.
