Karumba 17 August 2015
Drove on through Normanton and camped at Karumba for the night. After 600 Kms of dry and dusty roads, it was great to see the ocean again. Karumba is a sleepy little town that supports the large fishing boats that fish the Gulf. Over winter, it is also the home to a large number of grey nomads who love coming here for the fishing – especially barramundi. We bought some sea food (and champagne) and settled down to watch a magnificent sunset over the ocean from a deserted beach. We felt a sense of achievement having driven across Queensland, only marred when a brown kite swopped down and stole a prawn out of Heather’s hand.
