Mackay 13 July 2015
We said goodbye to Wendy and Steve and headed north. Even though Queensland is a lot warmer than NSW, there is a cold front that has brought down the temperature, so we were thankful to head up to Mackay. You can feel it getting warmer as we drove north, surrounded by sugar cane and macadamia plantations. Had the misfortune to get another stone chip but got it repaired before it developed into a large crack. Mackay was a booming mining town that has been feeling the downturn in mineral prices and everyone is feeling the pinch. Camped by the river on the northern side and had the place to ourselves for a peaceful night.
