Travelling around Australia in a motorhome. A story of our travels starting from NSW then through Queensland, across to Northern Territory and Western Australia, then to South Australia, Victoria and finally across the seas to Tasmania. We have enjoyed everywhere we have visited and look forward to setting off again in our motorhome.

Rockhampton 2 – 3 August 2013

Decided to head south and see how far we got. We headed through Mackay without stopping and once we were on the road we made good time. Stopped at Clairview to have a look – it is only a small fishing village with just an op shop but good for an overnight camp. We kept on driving til we got near Yaamba and stayed near the old pub. There were quiet a few other campers there and we went for a drink and swapped yarns. Got up early in the morning and headed to the showground at Rockhampton for the Swap Meet. This is like one of the largest garage sale in Oz with 1,000 stalls and about 13,000 people visiting – it was packed with interesting stuff from car parts, clothes, books, antiques, retro and bric-a-brac. It took us all day to get around all the stalls and we were exhausted and very hot, but we managed to buy some interesting stuff – God knows where we are going to put it! Heather has an idea of having a retro stall, but we will see. Drove out of town in the dark and camped by the road at Gracemere.
