Travelling around Australia in a motorhome. A story of our travels starting from NSW then through Queensland, across to Northern Territory and Western Australia, then to South Australia, Victoria and finally across the seas to Tasmania. We have enjoyed everywhere we have visited and look forward to setting off again in our motorhome.

Albury 18-20 November 2009

Had a late start and headed towards Burrowye to camp at a reserve; however a combination of hot weather and no shade ensured that we moved onto another campsite. We continued to follow the Murray as it meandered around the countryside. The upper Murray is very green and pretty but as we kept on our westward path, the fields have become very brown and parched, with long dry grass crowding in on the road – with over 40 deg predicted, a recipe for bushfires. The next camp proved to be no better, so we drove down to Granya NP to walk to Granya Falls. Had a bit of fun picking figs off two trees on the site. They are green but the bet is that in this warm weather they will be ripe in no time! We had a good walk in the heat to the falls but unfortunately they were dry. We decided to head into Albury early and do the urban things that we have listed. Decided to settle into a caravan park with a pool and power for air-conditioning. The swim was heaven in the evening heat!
Thursday morning we had a wander around Albury and restocked the pantry – Albury is the centre for this area and everybody comes here to look for the special items they can’t find in their own towns. On Friday we had to get some work done on the car and had a look at some op shops – no great buys. On Friday night we started to receive good soaking rain, which continued through the night and into Saturday, so we decided it was time to head for drier climates.
