Travelling around Australia in a motorhome. A story of our travels starting from NSW then through Queensland, across to Northern Territory and Western Australia, then to South Australia, Victoria and finally across the seas to Tasmania. We have enjoyed everywhere we have visited and look forward to setting off again in our motorhome.

Forrest Beach 10-11 6 05

Set off for Tully – still raining! Tully has one of the highest rainfalls in Queensland and it shows. It seems a quiet town that services the sugar cane farms and the sugar mill. As the sugar mill only operates 5 months a year, the town struggles during the down time. Went onto Cardwell, opposite Hinchinbrook Island, and then drove to Ingham – another sugar town. Bought supplies and then camped at Forrest Beach – about 15km east to the coast. Forrest Beach is a very quiet spot, full of retired people. We had a chat with a few of the locals and they are happy to see it stay a peaceful village. We were able to camp right on the water for 2 nights. Peter rode his pushbike around the area. There was a large lagoon nearby, with lots of bird life. Afterwards he went for a swim in the ocean – still nice and warm.
